In a two run game the New York-AL Yankees halted a 6 game slide and got by the
Cleveland Indians by the score of 7 to 5.

New York-AL jumped out to the early lead in the first inning when they tallied
2 runs on 2 hits.  The big moment was provided by Wally Post who electrified
Yankee Stadium when he bombed a two-run dinger.  New York-AL had 8 hits
overall, while Cleveland had 5.  

The victory went to Willard Nixon(10-8) who went 8 and 1/3 innings, allowing 5
runs. Nixon was helped out by Windy McCall who recorded his 1st save.  Billy
Hoeft(2-8) was the losing pitcher.  He gave up 6 hits and 1 walk in 7
innings.
