Jackie Jensen had 4 hits and 3 RBI at Ebbets Field as the Brooklyn Dodgers
pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Kansas City Athletics by the count
of 6 to 5.

Brooklyn had the game winning rally in the 9th inning when they tallied 4 runs
on 3 hits. The critical plate appearance was by Jensen who made the
home-town crowd a happy bunch when he cleared the fences for a two-run home
run. Brooklyn finished with 13 hits while Kansas City ended up with 7.

The win went to Ray Narleski(4-7) who allowed 1 run in 2 innings. Marv
Grissom(4-3) absorbed the loss in relief. He surrended 3 homeruns in his 1
and 1/3 innings.

Roy Purcell was in great spirits in his post-game interview. Yet, when asked
about his feelings after the thrilling comeback victory, he volunteered,
'I'll tell you this much - I know how my counterpart, Jim Murphy, feels right
now - and it's not very good. It's terrible when you come up on the short
end of one of these!'
