First baseman John Reilly slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI and Will White had a
complete game as the Cincinnati Red Stockings outscored the Pittsburgh
Alleghenys 15 to 10.

Reilly had a big day at the plate. He tripled in the 1st inning, lofted a
three-run bomb in the 4th inning and lined a base-hit in the 9th inning.
Cincinnati bats were hot in the 4th inning with 6 runs on 3 hits. Pittsburgh
was not lacking for run support as they scored in 5 separate innings, yet
victory eluded them as they seemed to forget that pitching is also needed to
win ballgames.

The win was credited to White(35-20) who went the whole way allowing 10 runs.
Jack Neagle(3-14) was tagged with the loss. Cincinnati knocked him around a
bit, as he gave up 15 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings.
