Ed Poole went 11 strong innings as the phenomenal Cincinnati Reds beat the
Pittsburgh Pirates in 11 innings by a score of 5 to 3.

The score was tied at 2 after nine.  Cincinnati won the game in the 11th
inning.  Heinie Peitz kicked off the action when he ripped a base-knock.
Poole followed next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Joe Kelley was the
next batter, but he struck out.  Cy Seymour came up and he was walked
intentionally.  Cozy Dolan came up to bat and stroked a one-base hit to load
the bases.  Jake Beckley added to the outburst and doubled emptying the
bases.  Cincinnati managed 9 hits in their victory.  

Poole(8-8) allowed 3 runs on the game. The loss was charged to Sam
Leever(17-12).  He pitched 10 and 2/3 innings and surrendered 9 hits and 7
walks.
