Roscoe Miller went the distance and Nap Lajoie had 3 base hits and 2 RBI at
Hilltop Park where the New York-AL Highlanders beat the hapless Detroit
Tigers by the score of 7 to 5.

New York-AL came up with the deciding runs in the 8th inning plating 2 runs
utilizing 3 base hits.  After two outs Lajoie initiated the scoring spurt
when he lined a base-hit.  Rich O'Haire then called for a steal which was
successful.  John Dobbs then doubled scoring a single run.  Wid Conroy
stepped in and he singled scoring the final run of the inning.  New York-AL
rapped out 14 hits for the afternoon.  

Miller(3-0) was the winner allowing 5 runs for the game. Mike O'Neill(2-9) was
the loser.  He was touched for 14 hits and 3 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.

'He gutted it out' Rich O'Haire said of Miller.  'I was very impressed by his
tenacity.'
