The St. Louis Cardinals halted a 6 game slide and nipped the Pittsburgh
Pirates in 10 innings 6 to 5 at Exposition Park in a hard fought
contest.

The score was tied at 5 after nine. Finally, St. Louis pulled the game out in
the 10th inning. Pug Bennett reached on an error. After another out, Art
Hoelskoetter came up and he hit a sacrifice fly scoring the run. Pittsburgh
had 14 hits in the game while St. Louis had 9, but St. Louis had the more
timely hits.

Carl Druhot(10-8) got the win allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Doc
Hillebrand(3-1) took the loss. 'It felt really nice to get this win,' Druhot
said. 'I kind of dictated the game. It's what I get paid to do. It worked out
this time.'
