Jack Fournier hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI as the Boston-AL Red Sox outscored
the slumping Detroit Tigers 4 to 3.

Boston-AL scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 8th inning.  Dick Egan
reached on an error.  Ray Fisher then was wild with a pitch.  Lee Magee then
hit a single scoring the run.  Detroit tried unsuccessfully to come back in
the 9th.  

Hippo Vaughn(6-8) got the win allowing 3 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings. Walter
Johnson earned his 9th save.  Fisher(3-5) was the losing pitcher.  'I
struggled a bit out there today,' Vaughn said, 'but I toughed it out and we
got the win.'
