The Boston-AL Red Sox and the pitiful Washington Nationals locked up in an
exciting one-run game at National Park.  The final score was the Boston-AL
Red Sox 6, the pitiful Washington Nationals 5 in 11 innings.

Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings.  Boston-AL won the
hard fought contest in the 11th inning.  Doc Johnston drew a walk.  Lee Magee
came next and he reached on an error.  Magee then hit a deep fly scoring the
run.  Boston-AL finished with 8 hits in the victory.  

Charley Hall(3-5) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory. Hall
got help from Walter Johnson who was credited with his 12th save.  Smoky Joe
Wood(5-9) was hit with the loss in relief.  He was the victim of a defensive
lapse and did not allow an earned run in the game.
