Left fielder George Burns had 2 base hits as the New York Giants defeated the
Brooklyn Superbas by the score of 6 to 4 at Polo Grounds.

New York brought 4 runs across the plate in the 2nd inning when they came up
with 5 base hits.  They ended up being the winning runs.  Brooklyn had a
chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.  

Jeff Tesreau(17-11) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 4 runs. Tesreau got help from Hooks Wiltse who earned his 7th save.
Earl Yingling(4-8) ended up with the loss.  He surrendered 14 hits and 1 walk
in 8 innings.
