Second baseman Jackie Robinson had 4 hits as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the
Washington Nationals by a score of 8 to 1 at Griffith Stadium.

Cincinnati wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning when they
tallied 2 runs on 3 hits. That early run support was all that Jim
Hearn(10-11) required. Cincinnati had 16 hits overall, while Washington had
9.

Paul Minner earned his 16th save. Joe Nuxhall(6-16) was the loser. He was
unable to control the Cincinnati offense and allowed 14 hits and 7 walks in 7
and 1/3 innings.

This win by Cincinnati continues their recent hot streak. In their last ten
games, they have a record of 8-2. For the season, they are 68-75. Gordy
Renaud was unhappy with his club's recent performance. 'We can't keep losing
games' he said. 'It gets to be embarrassing after a while.'
