WEB GEMS- Bot 6th: Arthur Irwin robbed Charlie Buffinton of a base hit.

John Morrill hit a homerun and had 6 RBI and Charlie Buffinton tossed a
complete game as the Boston Beaneaters smashed the overmatched Providence
Grays, 16 to 3.

Morrill enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He ripped a single bringing home two
baserunners in the 5th inning, doubled knocking in a run in the 6th inning
and rifled a three-run blast in the 7th inning. Boston kept the scorekeepers
busy in the 1st inning with 4 runs on 4 hits, the 6th inning when they had 4
runs on 4 hits and the 7th inning which saw them score 6 runs on 8 hits.
Boston had 21 hits for the afternoon.

The win was credited to Buffinton(19-22) who went the whole way allowing 3
runs. Old Hoss Radbourn(20-25) was given the loss. He was not very
effective, surrendering 16 runs in 8 innings.

'It's been a rough ride lately, but this was a good win for us' said Morrill,
'Maybe this will put us back on track.'
