Bill Carrick pitched a complete game at South Side Park as the Washington
Senators beat the Chicago White Sox by the count of 8 to 7.

Washington scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 8th inning plating 2
runs. Pop Foster kicked off the action when he drew a walk. Foster was safe
at second on a stolen base. Bill Coughlin was next to bat, but he was a
strikeout victim. Billy Clingman followed and he was hit by a pitch.
Carrick stepped into the box and ripped a base-hit to load the bases. Roy
Patterson then was wild with a pitch knocking in a run. Win Mercer stepped
up to the plate and he hit a sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the
inning. Washington finished with 11 hits in the victory.

Carrick(11-19) allowed 7 runs on the game. Patterson(14-15) was given the
loss. He was hit hard and gave up 11 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings.

Jim Manning was just happy to get a win, 'We've had such a bad streak of games
-- boy, it's great to get the monkey off our back. Now maybe we can relax a
little and play the kind of baseball of which we are capable.'
