Sam Leever delivered 10 solid innings at Exposition Park as the Pittsburgh
Pirates beat the St. Louis Cardinals in 10 innings 1 to 0.

Neither team managed to score in the first nine innings.  Pittsburgh came out
on top in the 10th inning.  Tommy Sheehan stroked a one-base hit.  Fred
Clarke then called for a steal which was successful.  Claude Ritchey then
worked the squeeze play to perfection resulting in an exciting win for
Pittsburgh and a raucous post-game celebration by the home town fans.
Pittsburgh rapped out 7 hits for the afternoon.  

It was the 2nd shutout of the year for Leever(11-8). Carl Druhot(10-9)
suffered the loss in relief.  He was unable to retire a batter giving up 1
hit and no walks.
