Shortstop Joe Tinker had 4 hits and 2 RBI and Mordecai Brown retired 10
batters on strikeouts at West Side Park as the Chicago Cubs beat the St.
Louis Cardinals 10 to 4.

Brown(9-14) pitched a solid game. He allowed just 6 hits and 4 walks in 9
innings. Chicago totaled 11 hits on the afternoon.

Bob Harmon(17-16) was the losing pitcher. He was touched for 11 hits and 6
walks in 8 innings. Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of Brown -
except St. Louis. Roger Bresnahan lamented, 'He just was 'on' this
afternoon. He was keeping our guys off balance all game. A fine game by a
good strikeout pitcher - makes it a fun game for the hometown fans -
unfortunately we were the visitors!'
