In a tight game it was the Philadelphia-AL Athletics 5, the Cincinnati Reds 3
in 10 innings at Redland Field.

Both teams had scored 3 runs after nine full innings.  Philadelphia-AL won the
hard fought contest in the 10th inning.  Frank Schulte opened up the inning
nicely when he slapped a base-hit.  Chick Gandil was next and he doubled
knocking in a run.  Home Run Baker then doubled scoring the final run of the
inning.  Cincinnati had 14 hits in the game while Philadelphia-AL had 11, but
Philadelphia-AL had the more timely hits.  

Ray Collins(17-7) went 4 innings allowing no runs for the win. Babe Adams(8-8)
suffered the loss in relief.  He pitched 3 and 1/3 innings giving up 5 hits
and 1 walk.
