Wilbur Cooper hurled a 3 hitter at Forbes Field as the Pittsburgh Pirates won
a thriller over the St. Louis Cardinals in, 2 to 1.

Pittsburgh won the game with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning.  After an
out was recorded, Jim Viox doubled.  Bob Harmon then uncorked a pitch that
was ruled a passed ball.  Honus Wagner then laced a base-knock giving
Pittsburgh the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy.  Pittsburgh
had only 6 hits for the game.  

Cooper(3-8) allowed 1 run on the game. The loss was charged to Harmon(13-14).
He gave up 2 runs and 6 hits in 8 and 1/3 innings.
