WEB GEMS- Top 9th: George Burns robbed Del Pratt of a base hit.

First baseman George Burns had 4 hits and 4 RBI and Hooks Dauss took a
no-hitter into the 6th inning at Navin Field as the Detroit Tigers
embarrassed the St. Louis Browns by the lopsided score of 14 to 1.

Burns enjoyed a big day at the plate. He delivered a one-base hit in the 2nd
inning, doubled plating a run in the 5th inning, tripled plating two runs in
the 7th inning and banged out a single resulting in a run in the 8th inning.
Detroit managed 18 hits in their victory.

Dauss(14-13) lasted until the end allowing 1 run for the win. The
right-handed Dauss lost his no-hit bid when Bill James singled with two outs
in the 6th inning. James(11-16) absorbed the loss. He was hit hard and gave
up 13 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.
