Ad Gumbert allowed Al Buckenberger to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game and third baseman Fred Hartman jacked one out of the ballyard and had 3
RBI as the Pittsburg Pirates outscored the New York Giants 12 to
5.

Pittsburg scored 6 runs in the decisive top of the 3rd inning.  That early run
support was enough for Gumbert(10-16) and Pittsburg.  Pittsburg had a total
of 14 hits for the game.  

Jouett Meekin(20-17) ended up with the loss.  He was knocked around by
