In an great finish the St. Louis Browns won in dramatic fashion over the
Detroit Tigers by a score of 7 to 6 at Sportsman'S Park.

St. Louis had the winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 3 runs
on 4 base hits.  After an out was recorded, Bill Friel initiated the scoring
spurt when he ripped a single.  Hunter Hill next to the plate and he drew a
walk.  One out later, Bobby Wallace then laced a single to load the bases.
Emmet Heidrick followed next and he singled bringing in a run.  Charlie
Hemphill came to the plate and laced a base-knock resulting in an exciting
win for St. Louis and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans.
St. Louis rapped out 12 hits for the afternoon.  

The win went to Bill Reidy(4-6) who allowed no runs in 1/3 of an inning.
George Mullin(16-15) took the loss.  He was knocked around by St. Louis,
allowing 12 hits and 4 walks in 8 and 2/3 innings.  

Reidy and Hemphill were really whooping it up in the clubhouse after the great
come from behind victory.  As Jimmy McAleer noted, 'A win like this one can
do wonders for a team's attitude.' Everyone shares in the joy - the fans, the
players - even you guys - it's better than winning by a dozen runs!'
