TEAM RISP- Giants: 5 for 12 Phillies: 6 for 18

In a startling finish the New York-NL Giants staged a comeback then held on to
win over the Philadelphia-NL Phillies by a score of 9 to 5 at Baker
Bowl.

New York-NL scored the winning runs in the top of the 9th inning when they
tallied 5 runs on 4 hits. The critical plate appearance was by Ossee
Schreckengost who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he doubled
clearing the bases. Both teams ended up with 14 hits on the afternoon.

Bill Duggleby(11-7) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. Jack
Cronin(3-5) was charged with the loss in relief. He allowed New York-NL 5
runs in 2 and 2/3 innings of work.

Mark McGonigle was understandably not very talkative after his team's tough
loss. He quickly showered and changed and when asked about the game had a
terse, yet polite response, 'Hey fellows, that game was a heart-breaker to
lose. Our guys gave it their all and played well - fate just wasn't smilin'
on us this afternoon'
