Eddie Cicotte came through with a solid 8 innings as the Boston Red Sox
defeated the Philadelphia Athletics by the score of 3 to 0 at Shibe
Park.

Boston had the winning rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 3 runs
utilizing 3 base hits.  Rip Williams got things going when he reached on an
error.  Duffy Lewis came to the plate and lined a single plating a run.
Harry Hooper then reached on an error.  Steve Yerkes was up next and he lined
a one-base hit driving home another two teammates.  Overall Boston out-hit
Philadelphia 9 to 4.  

The win was credited to Cicotte(12-8) who went 8 innings allowing no runs.
Smoky Joe Wood preserved the game for Cicotte, recording his his 3rd save.
Chief Bender(10-9) was hit with the loss.
