Russ Meyer completed the game without help from the bullpen and second baseman
Jackie Robinson had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds destroyed the
Washington Nationals by a score of 14 to 4 at Griffith Stadium.

Robinson was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day
at their team's expense. He clubbed a solo home run in the 3rd inning, laced
a one-base hit in the 6th inning, singled in the 8th inning and delivered a
single which scored a run in the 9th inning. Cincinnati rapped out 17 hits
for the afternoon.

Meyer(6-9) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 4 runs. Ralph
Branca(7-13) was the loser. He was hit hard and gave up 15 hits and 7 walks
in 8 and 1/3 innings.
