Hank Thompson connected with a 'big fly' and had 2 RBI as the Philadelphia-AL
Athletics bested the Chicago-NL Cubs 7 to 5 at Wrigely
Field.

Philadelphia-AL had the winning rally in the 8th inning scoring 3 runs on 2
base hits. After an out was recorded, Jim Piersall began the Philadelphia-AL
spurt when he drew a walk. Dave Hoskins then let one slip out of his hand
for a wild pitch. One out later, Gil Hodges then laced a base-knock
resulting in a run. Thompson was up next and he clubbed a two-run home run.
The game was a wild affair with the lead changing hands 5 times.

Fritz Dorish(7-6) went 7 innings allowing 5 runs for the victory. Lew Burdette
recorded the save, his 2nd. Hoskins(6-2) was the losing pitcher in relief.
He was not very effective, surrendering 3 runs in 2 innings.
