Ned Garver pitched 7 strong innings as the spectacular Pittsburgh Pirates beat
the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 7 to 0.

Willie Mays provided the offensive punch.  He laced a one-base hit which
brought home a run in the 4th inning, cracked a solo homerun in the 6th
inning and tripled bringing home two baserunners in the 8th inning.
Pittsburgh had 9 hits overall, while Cincinnati had 3.  

Garver(10-13) was the winner allowing no runs in 7 innings. Eddie Lopat(6-7)
was charged with the loss.  He pitched 6 innings and surrendered 6 hits and 1
walk.
