First baseman John Reilly had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Blondie Purcell went
the distance as the Cincinnati Reds outscored the Cleveland Blues in 10
innings 7 to 6.

Both teams were tied at 6 runs apiece after nine innings. Cincinnati was
victorious in the 10th inning.  Hick Carpenter slapped a base-hit.  Gid
Gardner then uncorked a wild pitch.  After an out was recorded, Joe Sommer
then ripped a base-knock scoring the run.  It was roller coaster of a game as
the lead change hands 6 times.  

Purcell(4-12) was the winner allowing 6 runs for the game. The losing pitcher
was Gardner(1-6).  'I had a little blister on my index finger before the
game, but I thought it was nothing.' Purcell said.  'I was lucky I got a win
because I couldn't put the ball where I wanted it.'
