Catcher Bob Coleman had 3 base hits and Bob Harmon pitched a complete game as
the Pittsburgh Pirates won a heart-stopping victory over the St. Louis
Cardinals, 4 to 3.

The game was won by Pittsburgh when they scored a run in the 9th inning.  Max
Carey drew a walk.  Ed Mensor stepped into the batter's box and he reached on
an error.  Mensor was a strikeout victim, unable to help out.  After another
out, Jim Viox stepped up to the plate and he was walked intentionally.  Ed
Konetchy came to the plate and lined a single resulting in a mighty exciting
win for Pittsburgh and the 1,193 home town fans in attendance.  Pittsburgh
had 9 hits for the afternoon.  

Harmon(13-10) was the winner allowing 3 runs for the game. Slim Sallee(19-8)
ended up with the loss.  He pitched 8 and 2/3 innings and surrendered 9 hits
and 3 walks.
