WEB GEMS- Top 7th: Phil Rizzuto robbed Frank Baumholtz of a base hit.

Gus Bell had 2 base hits and 3 RBI as the Washington Nationals bested the
hopeless New York-AL Yankees 5 to 4 at Yankee Stadium.

Washington came up with 4 runs in the top of the 7th inning. The big moment
was provided by Bell who disappointed the partisan crowd when he doubled
bringing in two baserunners. New York-AL threatened in the 9th but their
rally came up short.

The win went to Johnny Podres(4-5) who allowed 3 runs in 8 innings. Don Larsen
was credited with his 1st save. Satchel Paige(1-7) took the loss. He
pitched 6 innings and surrendered 3 hits and 4 walks.
