Warren Spahn completed the game without help from the bullpen as the
Washington Nationals bested the New York-AL Yankees 8 to 2 at Yankee
Stadium.

Joe Adcock led the offense for Washington.  He doubled which was good for two
runs in the 3rd inning, doubled scoring two baserunners in the 5th inning and
doubled in the 7th inning.  Washington had a total of 13 hits for the game.

The winning pitcher was Spahn(17-9) who allowed 2 runs for the game. Ned
Garver(12-12) took the loss.  He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up
8 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.
