Tony Mullane came through with a solid 9 innings and right fielder Tom Poorman
had 2 base hits and 3 RBI as the Toledo Blue Stockings defeated the reeling
Brooklyn Atlantics by the score of 5 to 1 at League Park.

Toledo jumped out to the early lead in the first inning plating 3 runs on 6
hits. After an out was recorded, Joe Miller started the attack as he hit a
single. Curt Welch came to the plate and ripped a base-knock. Poorman then
lined a base-hit bringing in a run. Poorman took second on the throw.
Mullane was up next and he delivered a single scoring another run. Chappy
Lane came up to bat and stroked a single. George Meister extended the rally
and slapped a base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. That was all the
offense they were to need. After the 3rd inning, neither team was able to
score.

The win was credited to Mullane(26-22) who went the whole way allowing 1 run.
Adonis Terry(12-27) was given the loss. When questioned about his
counterpart after the game, Terry was lavish in his praise, 'It was obvious
very early on that we were going to be in for a long night. Mullane brought
his 'A' game with him - he had good stuff and was able to spot it perfectly.
He probably only made one or two bad pitches the entire game!
