George Van Haltren went the distance at West Side Park where the Chicago White
Stockings beat the Indianapolis Hoosiers 16 to 12.

Van Haltren(7-5) was solid if not spectacular.  He surrendered 14 hits and 3
walks in 9 innings.  Chicago bats were very productive in the 1st inning
which saw them plate 5 runs on 4 hits and the 7th inning when they had 6 runs
on 4 hits.  Both teams ended up with 14 hits on the afternoon.  

Henry Boyle(17-15) was the losing pitcher.  He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 14 hits and 8 walks in 8 innings.
