separated the combatants at game's end.  The streaking Chicago White Sox won
by the slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.

Both teams had scored 2 runs after nine full innings.  Chicago came out on top
in the 10th inning.  Fielder Jones delivered a one-base hit.  Chicago's
manager then called for a steal which was successful.  Nixey Callahan then
hit a deep fly scoring the run.  Chicago had a total of 9 hits for the game.

The victory was credited to Ed Walsh(10-4) who went 2 innings, allowing no
runs. Addie Joss(15-3) was tagged with the loss.  He gave up 3 runs and 9
