WEB GEMS- Bot 1st: Nap Lajoie robbed Fred Tenney of a base hit.

Three Finger Brown allowed Mark McGonigle to rest his bullpen, tossing a
complete game as the Philadelphia-NL Phillies defeated the St. Louis-AL
Browns 2 to 1 at Sportsmans Park.

Philadelphia-NL had 1 run cross the plate in the top of the 3rd inning. Art
Devlin reached on an error. Devlin was safe on a stolen base. Davy Jones
then drew a walk. Otis Clymer stepped in and he laced a base-hit scoring the
run. That was all the offense they were to need. The pitchers took over
after the 3rd inning as neither team was able to score again.

The victory went to Brown(16-6) who went the distance allowing 1 run. Addie
Joss(20-9) absorbed the loss. He gave up 11 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings.
