WEB GEMS- Bot 2nd: Solly Hofman robbed Jiggs Donahue of a base hit.

Jack Coombs tossed a complete game and shortstop Heinie Wagner had 3 base hits
and 4 RBI as the Washington Nationals defeated the Philadelphia-AL Athletics
by the score of 14 to 7 at American League Park.

The Washington fans enjoyed the offense provided by Wagner. He laced a single
which scored a run in the 4th inning, stroked a one-base hit which plated a
run in the 7th inning and tripled scoring two baserunners in the 8th inning.
Washington had a total of 19 hits for the game.

The victory was credited to Coombs(6-7) who went the distance, allowing 7
runs. Tom Hughes(4-8) took the loss in relief. He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 8 hits and 2 walks in 2 innings.
