The Boston Braves nipped the New York Giants 3 to 2 at South End Grounds in a
hard fought contest.
Bill James(18-10) pitched okay, well enough for the win. He was reached for
14 hits and 5 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings. New York had a chance in the 9th
but they came up short.
Paul Strand earned his 6th save. Rube Marquard(11-16) was the losing pitcher.
'I struggled a bit out there today,' James said, 'but I toughed it out and
we got the win.'
