Wally Westlake hit one over the fence and had 2 RBI as the Boston Red Sox
defeated the pitiful Pittsburgh Pirates in 10 innings by the score of 6 to 5
at Fenway Park.
The game was deadlocked at 5 after nine full innings. Boston won the hard
fought contest in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Westlake
tripled. Les Moss was next and he banged out a single resulting in an
exciting win for Boston and a raucous post-game celebration by the home town
fans. Boston managed 13 hits in their victory.
Nels Potter(8-2) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Schoolboy
Rowe(6-8) was the loser in relief. He allowed 1 run and 3 hits in 1 and 1/3
innings.
