Jerry Priddy hit a homerun and had 3 RBI as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the
New York Yankees in 11 innings by a score of 8 to 6.
The game was deadlocked at 6 after nine full innings. St. Louis won the game
in the 11th inning. Ferris Fain got things going when he drew a walk. Fain
took his lead and swiped second. Pee Wee Reese then laid down a sacrifice
bunt. Al Evans struck out, unable to help the rally. Priddy came up to bat
and popped a two-run clout over the fence. New York went down quietly in the
bottom of the 11th.
Bubba Harris(2-1) went 2 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Tom Ferrick
preserved the game for Harris, recording his his 6th save. Ted Gray(3-4)
took the loss in relief. He allowed 2 runs and 1 hit in 2 innings.
