Monk Dubiel went the distance and shortstop Pee Wee Reese had 2 base hits as
the St. Louis Cardinals bested the Cincinnati Reds 6 to 1 at Sportsman's
Park.

St. Louis went ahead for good in the 4th inning with 2 runs utilizing 3 base
hits.  Al Evans kicked off the action when he laced a one-base hit.  Eddie
Yost followed and he laced a base-knock.  After an out was recorded, Dubiel
then lined a base-hit bringing in a run.  Ferris Fain was up next and he hit
a sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the inning.  St. Louis managed 10
hits in their victory.  

The win was credited to Dubiel(4-2) who went the whole way allowing 1 run.
Dick Fowler(8-12) was the losing pitcher.  He was unable to control the St.
Louis offense and allowed 9 hits and 4 walks in 6 innings.
