The New York-AL Yankees endured an embarrassing pasting as a potent Cincinnati
Reds lineup tallied 13 runs while Ned Garver(17-8), with relief help from Ken
Heintzelman, allowed New York-AL 4 runs.

New York-AL found themselves trailing quickly as the Cincinnati bats came
through in the first inning as they scored 6 runs on 4 base hits.  That was
all the runs Garver needed.  New York-AL was out-hit by Cincinnati, 13 hits
to 10.  

The losing pitcher was Tommy Byrne(6-6).  He had trouble throwing strikes and
issued 5 walks in 2 and 1/3 innings.  Wth the win Cincinnati now has a record
of 75-63.  With the loss, the New York-AL ballclub's record is 51-87, worst
in the league.
