Al Dark had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at Forbes Field where the Pittsburgh Pirates
beat the Washington Nationals 4 to 2.

Ewell Blackwell(19-9) had a solid outing for Pittsburgh.  He allowed 8 hits
and 3 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.  Washington threatened in the 9th but their
rally came up short.  

Blackwell was helped out by Ellis Kinder who recorded his 7th save.  Warren
Spahn(14-12) was the loser.  He got hit hard, allowing 11 hits and 4 walks in
8 innings.  

'I didn't have my best stuff but sometimes you just get lucky,' Blackwell
said, 'this was one of those times.'
