In a tight game it was the Chicago-NL Cubs 6, the hopeless Washington
Nationals 4 at Wrigley Field.

Chicago-NL scored 4 runs in the decisive bottom of the 2nd inning with the
help of 4 hits. That early run support was all that Leo Kiely(3-2) required.
Neither team managed to score after the 3rd inning.

Kiely got relief help from Howie Judson who gained credit for his 4th save.
Don Newcombe(8-15) took the loss. He surrendered 6 runs and 9 hits in 8
innings.
