Right fielder Dick Harley had 3 base hits and 3 RBI as the indomitable Chicago
Cubs bested the Pittsburgh Pirates 9 to 4 at Exposition Park.

Chicago promptly took the lead in their half of the first plating 3 runs using
2 hits.  Jimmy Slagle kicked off the action when he lined a single.  Jack
McCarthy stepped up next and he reached on an error.  Frank Chance then drew
a walk to load the bases.  Harley came up and he hit a deep fly bringing in a
run.  Chance took off for second and slid in with a stolen base.  Joe Tinker
kept the inning going and would ground out scoring one more run.  Johnny
Kling stepped into the batter's box and he delivered a one-base hit scoring
the final run of the inning.  Chicago finished with 13 hits while Pittsburgh
ended up with 7.  

Jake Weimer(18-10) went 8 innings allowing 4 runs for the win. Deacon
Phillippe(23-7) was hit with the loss.  He was hit hard and gave up 12 hits
and 4 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings.
