In a good matchup it was the Detroit Tigers 5, the Cincinnati Reds 3 at
Bennett Park.

Detroit scored 4 runs in the decisive 5th inning with the help of 3 hits.  It
was enough scoring to earn the victory.  Cincinnati went down without a fight
in the 9th.  

Otto Hess(10-13) went 5 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. Hess got
relief help from Andy Coakley who gained credit for his 8th save.  Bill
Dinneen(5-5) was the losing pitcher.
