Larry Jansen whitewashed Washington on 3 hits as the Chicago-NL Cubs bested
the Washington Nationals 3 to 0 at Wrigley Field.

Jansen(13-11) came through with a virtuoso performance against the Washington
hitters.  He allowed only 3 hits and no walks in 9 innings.  Washington could
do no damage in the 9th.  

The losing pitcher was Warren Spahn(13-13).  He pitched 8 innings allowing 6
hits and 5 walks. 'Jansen just dominated us' losing pitcher Spahn said.
'Hopefully we can get to him the next time around'
