Sammy White had 3 base hits as the New York-AL Yankees outscored the
Washington Nationals in 11 innings 5 to 4.

The score was tied at 4 after nine.  New York-AL came out on top in the 11th
inning.  Hank Thompson drew a walk.  Gene Woodling stepped up next and he
singled.  Billy Goodman then worked the squeeze play to perfection making New
York-AL victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd.  New York-AL
had 11 hits for the afternoon while Washington had 8.  

Virgil Trucks(1-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing
no runs. Don Larsen(3-1) absorbed the loss.  He allowed 5 runs and 11 hits in
10 innings.
