the Providence Grays crushed the Buffalo Bisons 19 to 5.
Hines had a good day at the plate. He stroked a one-base hit plating a run in
the 1st inning, ripped a base-hit in the 5th inning, doubled plating two runs
in the 5th inning, singled in the 6th inning and laced a single scoring a run
in the 8th inning. Providence bats were hot in the 5th inning with 11 runs
on 7 hits and the 8th inning plating 4 runs. Providence had a total of 17
hits for the game.
Mathews(13-6) allowed 5 runs on the game. Pud Galvin(42-18) was the losing
pitcher. He was not very effective, surrendering 19 runs in 8 innings.
