Cap Anson had 4 hits and 5 RBI and Joe Brown allowed Anson to rest his
bullpen, tossing a complete game as the Chicago White Stockings outscored the
awful Philadelphia Quakers 11 to 3.

Anson provided the offensive punch.  He slapped a base-hit which brought home
a run in the 1st inning, laced a one-base hit in the 3rd inning, tripled
bringing in two baserunners in the 5th inning and delivered a single plating
two runs in the 8th inning.  Chicago had 14 hits for the afternoon.

Brown(2-2) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 3 runs. Charlie
Ferguson(13-21) suffered the loss.  He allowed a few too many baserunners
giving up 14 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings.  

The Chicago ballclub's record now stands at 53-40.  With the loss, the
Philadelphia ballclub's record is 31-62.
