In a close game the amazing Philadelphia-NL Phillies got by the Washington
Nationals by the score of 6 to 4.

Philadelphia-NL scored 3 runs in the decisive top of the 6th inning when they
came up with 4 base hits.  Jack Himes kicked off the action when he tripled.
Dave Altizer stepped up to the plate and he doubled scoring a single run.
Two outs later Art Devlin stepped in and he banged out a one-base hit
bringing in another run.  Mark McGonigle then called for a steal which was
successful.  John Titus stepped into the box and lined a base-hit scoring the
final run of the inning.  Philadelphia-NL ended up with 12 hits for the game
while Washington had 8.  

Carl Lundgren(14-9) allowed 3 runs in 5 innings, and picked up the victory.
Lundgren got help from Ralph Glaze who earned his 5th save.  Vive
Lindaman(9-19) was the loser.  He was touched for 9 hits and 3 walks in 6
innings.
