One run was the difference at American League Park as the Washington Nationals
put 5 runs on the scoreboard in the 9th inning and defeated the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics in 10 innings 10 to 9.

The game was deadlocked at 9 after nine full innings.  Washington came out the
victor in the 10th inning.  Heinie Wagner drew a walk.  After an out was
recorded, Jack Graney came to the plate and doubled resulting in an exciting
win for Washington and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans.
Washington had 13 hits for the afternoon.  

The win went to Fred Blanding(1-0) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Frank
Lange(12-11) took the loss in relief.
