Earl Yingling(6-5) and Jeff Tesreau(16-7) locked horns in a pitcher's duel
with Yingling and the Boston-AL Red Sox coming out on top of the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics 1 to 0.

Boston-AL scored the only run of the game in the top of the 7th inning.
Philadelphia-AL made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the
needed runs across.  

Yingling got help from Walter Johnson who was credited with his 12th save.  'I
struggled a bit out there today,' Yingling said, 'but I toughed it out and we
got the win.'
