Ray Murray slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Pittsburgh Pirates topped
the Brooklyn Dodgers by a score of 9 to 6 at Forbes Field.

Pittsburgh scored 5 runs in the decisive bottom of the 4th inning with the
help of 4 hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by Murray who made the
home-town crowd a happy bunch when he smacked a three-run homer.  Pittsburgh
had a total of 10 hits for the game.  

Vinegar Bend Mizell(10-10) got the win allowing 6 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings.
Ellis Kinder recorded his 26th save.  Harvey Haddix(8-11) took the loss.  He
served up 3 homeruns in his 8 innings.
